Jim Howard
It is his deep appreciation and passion for all of nature that makes Jim Howard's artwork unique. His keen awareness of detail and knowledge of wildlife and the natural environment stands out to those who share his love for the outdoors.
Whether it is a detailed pen and ink drawing of waterfowl flushing out of the marsh grass; a pencil rendition of whitetail deer stopped motionless in a stand of aspen trees; an awe-inspiring watercolor of an expanse of mountains contrasted against the western sky; a western scene of a cowboy on horseback rounding up his cattle before a gathering storm; or a fly-fisherman casting his fly over a rushing stream, Howard's talent enables him to create art that enhances the viewer's sensitivity to all areas of nature. Jim Howard received formal art training at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has had over forty years of experience in watercolor, pencil, and pen and ink. He has worked in advertising layout and design, and has produced book illustrations for a number of publishing houses. Jim is a signature member of the Montana Watercolor Society. Currently he resides in Bozeman, Montana with his wife, Joyce. |
